Ashgrove Golf Club’s Position

Ashgrove Golf Club supports the proposed Aura Retirement Facility.

The proposal responds to the growing need for retirement living in the local area, supports the long-term financial sustainability of Ashgrove Golf Club, preserves the club’s core 18-hole sporting function, and has been designed to integrate with the surrounding open space and natural character of The Gap.

Why the Club Supports the Proposal

Retirement living need

The proposal responds to the growing need for retirement living in Brisbane and The Gap catchment. It provides an opportunity for older residents to age in place while remaining connected to their local community.

Long-term future of Ashgrove Golf Club

Ashgrove Golf Club is a valued recreational and social asset for the local community.

Like many established sporting clubs, the club faces increasing costs associated with course maintenance, facility upgrades and broader site management. The proposed facility provides an opportunity for investment that supports the long-term financial sustainability of the club while retaining its core sporting function.

The proposal has been designed to maintain Ashgrove as an 18-hole golf course.

Integration with the environment

The proposal has been designed to respect the open space and natural character of The Gap.

The current design will utilise only 1.7% of the 40.6ha Ashgrove Golf Course, preserving sport and recreation areas for continued community use.

Design excellence

The proposed facility has been designed as a high-quality subtropical retirement living environment, with generous landscaping, outdoor spaces, natural materials, daylight, breezes and strong connections to the golf course and clubhouse.
