2018 03 retire newsSecuring the future of our club

Like many community and sporting organisations, the Ashgrove Golf Club has been under financial pressure in recent years. In order to secure the long-term future of the club, additional sources of revenue need to be found.

Ashgrove Golf Club RetireAustralia Joint Venture

As part of the strategy to secure the club’s long-term future for the local community, we have entered into a partnership with leading retirement village operator RetireAustralia. The joint venture will deliver a brand new clubhouse for members’ and community use, plus there will be approximately 150 new purpose-designed apartments for retirees.

Ashgrove Golf Club will retain complete ownership of all property associated with the development, including all land and buildings. RetireAustralia will be responsible for developing the project, and will lease and operate the retirement living component once construction is complete.

Both the Ashgrove Golf Club and RetireAustralia are excited to be working together to deliver an important community hub for Ashgrove.

Who is RetireAustralia?

RetireAustralia is Brisbane Head Office based and is the largest privately-owned operator of retirement villages in Australia, with 28 villages across New South Wales, Queensland and South Australia.

More information about the company can be found at their corporate website.

Key facts about the project

  • No impact on any part of the main golf course. The practice putting greens will be relocated to make way for the development to another location on the course
  • Ashgrove Golf Club retains ownership of all assets
  • The existing clubhouse will remain until the new clubhouse is built and open
  • This Partnership provides financial stability for the club
  • The project gives local people who wish to leave their family home an opportunity to relocate to a local retirement village. Currently there are limited options and many people have had to leave their friends and family to find appropriate accommodation.
